I am not so sure they did this since the affected area is smooth now. That is unless they filled in the cracks with paint which should be noticeable.

You’d be surprised how good they can make it look. The fix won’t last as long as leather though.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong or if things have changed but after years of seeing Z people deal with this issue it was never a warranty iitem- it was always seen as a wear and tear item that was occasionally fixed on a one time basis out of good faith from the dealer.

I certainly hope not. I will be right back up there again having them "fix" it again and again and again...

I have 30k miles on my 08 and the upper outside of the bolster is just starting to lose its outer layer, flaking off a tiny bit at a time. Its barely noticable right now, unless you're getting your nose down there while cleaning the leather.

That looks like the laminate is coming off before curing. Same thing happened on one of my thigh bolsters. A SM noticed it, pointed it out to me, and replaced it under warranty.

PS: my 95.5 M3 with leather seats never had so much as a crack after 130000 miles under Tucson, AZ sunlight. You just have to take care of leather.
