Question Cylinder 6 misfire / thoughts?

Got a “Service Engine Soon” light on my 2008 1 series yesterday. Feels like the car cannot fully deliver power when accelerating normally. Experienced some rough engine idle right when I parked into my garage yesterday.

Car is at 85k miles now. I am the 2nd owner when I bought the car CPO at 23k miles from New Century BMW in Los Angeles. I think dealership replaced some electrical components shortly before I bought (since it’s CPO), but I certainly haven’t switched any electrical components since purchasing the car.

Might be a fault ignition coil or spark plug, but wanted to see if anyone has other thoughts? Thanks in advance everyone!

Change the coil from cylinder six to cylinder one if the misfire moves its the coil. I just replaced one myself.

Cheapest thing to do is move the #6 coil to another cylinder.

You might also want to change the spark plugs too... since they should be changed every 45K miles(or less if you drive hard or have a tune). Coils do go bad. When you try to remove them for a plug change.. a bad one will often break apart - causing a replacement. Also take a good close look at your valve cover for any oil leaks/cracks. Its a common failure on our cars.

You could also have a bad injector. #12's(?) are the latest injector level. The injectors should be replaced in sets of three. BMW is now covering them for 8 years or 85K miles from the in-service date of the car. They aren't cheap COD.
