There's a meet next week in melbourne. A lot of the guys coming have n54 engines and all modded and tuned. They range from simple piggybacks, to full bolt ons and some guys have done turbo upgrades.
If you wanna come and check out their build, here's the link to the event: Melbourne BMW Meet Albert Park 20th December 11AM http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1202214 If you need a good workshop to carry out the works, try Active Motorwerkes in burwood or Evolve technik in Box hill. |

Don't even bother with Evolve, they told me they won't touch my car becuase it was extensively modified....also said no due to where I had work done. Laughable but that's OK. Their business their choice.
Active are good with JB4's and back end flashing via the JB4 or OBD. Board flashing is another kettle of fish. I know a few places in Melbourne for board flashing capability. N54 I recommend just going Cobb and going for a PTF E-tune. |

MHD is the most actively developed flash tune nowadays and has the most features. You flash it with an android phone and its cheaper than a Cobb. You can get a custom flash tune by just logging your car's runs and sending them back to the tuner. Then they keep send you an updated tune until its perfect.

Not at the moment, have driven/ridden in a bunch of cars that have MHD and was impressed with the power and features. Currently running a Procede piggyback and will remove it for MHD flash once I sort out my slipping clutch.

Yeah, it's an interesting option. The ability to update the tune readily and cheaply based on mods is nice, though I've personally always been a fan of having a tuner on a dyno flash the ECU in person.

Im considering getting into the BMW tuning game, few local (Australian) options. I've been tuning evos for years.
Theres a couple ways of doing this, either editing roms with tuner pro or using Cobb software and editing Cobb base or OTS maps to suit a particular vehicle. The former requires something like the MHD software app to 'flash a custom rom' whereas the latter option requires the end user to have an access port to flash the tune to their car. Does anyone really use the cobb AP anymore? |
