Porsche and Audi are not the same company. Porsche is a major stakeholder in the Volkswagon group (VAG) which Audi fall under.

IF both were the same price I would choose the TT-RS based upon looks....for interior "comfort" I would probably choose the 135i...the back seats are truly vestigial in the TT and the front seats may look good, buuuut I know in the S-Line TT-TDI I rented a couple weeks back they were waaaaay uncomfortable.

I've never really followed the TT and have barely thought about it for years so I have a question...

Am I correct in assuming they've resolved all of the handling problems I used to hear about?

yes, but that was after 2000. It wasnt that they didnt handle well. It was vast amount un-experienced drivers crashing on the autobahn. So they were fitted with a spoiler and a conservitive dogbone that was an optional recall for the 2000 models. standard for 01+.

True, but like the 135i. After a good amount of weight reduction. TTs are a great platform for ungodly whp, with upgraded BTs and other mods ect.

Of course you will spend more on upgrading a TT to get the whp of a moded 135i. Thats a matter of preference

The question is will Audi bring it to the US with a manual transmission. Audi's practice of going away from a true manual to the DSG is maddening. Actually, the reason that I didn't get a TT 2.0TQ is because DSG is the only choice. You could get a manual with the archaic V6 but then it was wayy too expensive.

I'm happy with my choice now anyway!

I love manual trans, but DSG is stronger and can handle more HP. Thats my opinion and im unsure if that is Audi's reason.

I don't think it looks that great, and i think it is heavily over priced. However i think the 135i looks awesome while a lot of people think its the ugliest car ever made.

If the TTRS cost over $70k...the M3s are selling at a little over invoice(09). For the same amount of money i would buy an M3. And plus i could fit another 2 ladies in the back.

the TTRS is real sweet. the USA got jipped by getting the TTS (265bhp and no manual transmission).

Thats not the point. I would rather row my own gears, regardless of whether or not I'm faster.

I was in the market for a TT but the price turned me away. I was always a VW/Audi guy and wanted to stay in the family. Then low and behold the 135i came along and my mind was made. Best bang for your buck out there. The TT I drove was a 6spd VR6 and it felt so underpowered. I loved the looks, but the price was not justifiable. Great handling car. I couldn't justify a 2.0T non quattro that at the time wasn't available in a 6spd when I could get a similar performing GTI for $10,000-$15,000 less. I always thought BMW's were overpriced but dollar for dollar Audi hands down takes the cake. Thank you BMW for bringing over the One Series!

they were going to use the torsen system in 01, but desided againsed it for some reason. I think the torsen system makes more sense.
