How exactly is it better than the M-sport wheel? What does it do?

The performance wheel has alcantera and an amber read out at the top with several functions. It also has shift lights across the top.

Here is a photo on an M3:

Save yourself some money and use a small piece of yellow tape on your standard M-Sport wheel.

I don't have an M wheel (I know bad decision from the start).... and I really like the bmw perf. one however it is to much $$$... I like the M wheel and was thinking about buying that but now I like this one with the flattened bottom and alcantara...

it is a custom steering wheel if you didnt happen to read my first post, they are NOT produced this way. This is an M wheel, it is just filed flat at the bottom and recovered.

A dealer in australia posted this in another thread that I think he got from BMW...

"For those customers who do not require the information display contained in the electronic version of the
BMW Performance steering wheel, a non electronic version, shown above, is planned to be available late
third/early fourth quarter. This steering wheel is made of both Alcantara and leather and in keeping with
the motorsport theme, has a flat base. This flat base is not available in the electronic version."

^^^ I agree... I would expect it to be in between the price of picking up the M wheel and the electronic sport wheel...

Thats the new performance steering wheel.
I already started a thread for it in the photos/videos section after seeing it at the iaa.
it will cost about the same as the mtech steering wheel.
so it will be a lot cheaper than the other performance wheel with display.

It looks a lot like the MA Carbon wheel for Audi R8 with carbon fiber top, center stripe, and flat bottom. $2,000+. (Yow). I think the R8 wheel is raised slightly above center, though, and I don't think they make wheels for BMW.
