Intermittent rattle coming from exhaust area
Usually occurs at idle. Sounds like a metallic vibration. Could it be mounts, hangers, or the heat shields? All guesses are considered....

I had a similar buzzing that I traced down to a loose exhaust hanger bolt, only I couldn't tighten it, since the bolt was cross-threaded. I had the car in the shop shortly afterwards for maintenance, and I mentioned my problems with the bolt, and they charged me a 1/2 hour of labor to pull and retap the bolt. Exhaust sounds perfect now. Hopefully, it's an easy fix for you, too. I was fortunate enough to be able to diagnose the exact problem before I took the car in, but I would think that many exhaust shops are experienced in tracking down and fixing these noises.

Hard to diagnose over the interweb... If it occurs at idle, start the car and crawl underneath to pin it down. Could be any number of things. For more clearance, throw it on ramps / stands.

Two options to check quickly and both require getting under the car.
1: rattle and bang about under there and try to replicate the sound 2: unplug the vacuum actuator hose from the exhaust.

Check your exhaust hangers. When I installed my exhaust on my car one of my hangers, under the rear bumper was pretty loose.

Try lifting the exhaust from the tips and see if there is any play. One of the hangers is held to the car by a screw, if the screw is loose you'll hear a metal clank when you move it up and down. I had this problem and it would occur during start up, and intermittent during driving. The screw holds on the right hanger looking at the back of the car
