if we utilise the same "AERO" flush mount cap for the E82 version, it will cost a little more as the larger tank will require more material and more fabrication time. However as the E82 version potentially has a much larger volume, we could go with a screw-in cap which would reduce the costs somewhat, compared to the flush mount cap required for the smaller E92 version. Lastly after much deliberation on the part of myself and Peter we have decided to take a hit on the fabricating costs, in order to bring the overall price of the unit down. As such we will now be offering the E92 version for $545.00, excluding powder coating. The powder coating will be an option and it will cost around $35, I will confirm the exact price shortly. Cheers, JD. Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 03-01-2012 at 12:41 PM.. Reason: Typo |

Thanks for the update Justin.
Can we get better photos of the E92 if possible? Any idea on the cost for the E82? Btw, does this include braided lines? |

that's cool. Peter is going to have a finished production version ready for photographing soon, I would prefer to post up pics of the real deal, as that will be a better illustration of what you are getting for your money. As mentioned the E82 version may cost a bit more, now that we have had a look at the fabrication requirements. However if we substitute the "AERO" flush mount cap for a screw-in type, that could offset the additional design costs. The revised tank price does not include braided lines or any other associated hardware. Cheers, JD. Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 03-03-2012 at 11:59 PM.. Reason: Typo |

Hi Justin
Any updates or photos that you can share? Still very much interested in this setup, pending final price. I think I prefer the AERO flush mount cap personally, it's not that much extra considering how much we are already paying. Plus you should also consider doing a GB? I think there will be more demand for the E82 tank than the E92. |

unfortunately nothing new to share. I have asked Pete to complete an E92 production unit ASAP. However as the Meth' tanks are hand fabricated, even a small project takes time. From a business perspective component R&D is secondary to vehicle repair and servicing. With regards the larger E82 tank we will probably allow the option, of either a screw-in cap or the "AERO" flush mount. I suspect in Aus there will be a larger demand for the E82 tank, but a GB may not be possible. Cheers, JD. Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 03-07-2012 at 07:00 AM.. Reason: Typo |

Haha,
I will push Pete a little harder on the completion of the E92 tank, so we can finalise an E82 version for all you 1 Series guys. Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 03-07-2012 at 06:56 AM.. Reason: Typo |

FYI, the Meth' tank will be still be made of aluminium, the anodizing process increases the surface thickness, of the naturally occurring rough layer of aluminium oxide. The carefully formed layer of aluminium oxide is substantially thicker and harder, making it very much resistant to Meth' induced corrosion. Quote: Originally Posted by dzenno Methanol is corrosive to aluminum and it shouldn't be used to hold methanol...the "right" way of doing it is plastic Hey dzenno, whilst I appreciate your concerns regarding the corrosive nature of Meth', I would much rather have a stealth aluminium tank in my boot, than a highly obtrusive plastic tank. That being said, in an effort to further improve our products, I'm more than happy to listen to feedback from fellow enthusiasts. As such we are now looking at "Anodizing" the "In-Boot Meth' Tank". If this can be done cost effectively, the aluminium tank will now be highly resistant to Methanol induced corrosion. It would seem Australian customers are far more receptive to our prototype stealth tank, possibly due to the fact that in Aus' a Police Officer would not hesitate to defect a late model BMW, if he knew Methanol was being stored in the vehicle. Unfortunately that is a serious matter here resulting in not only a hefty fine, but also a loss of demerit points. __________________ Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 03-08-2012 at 07:05 AM.. Hey Gents,
I spoke to Pete today, providing nothing unanticipated comes up next week, he is going to get started on the manufacture of an E92 production unit. Once that is done, we can get cracking on the prototype for an E82 vehicle. Justin. |
