Maddad Whisper ftw!
On my N54, I previously tried running 3" DPs, N55 mids, stock muffler. That setup was awful. Smelly at every stop light, loud and rattly at cold startup in the mornings. Nice sound once warmed up, but just too loud and crappy sounding in the mornings. Hated it!
New setup: 3" DPs, stock mids, Maddad Whisper axleback. First impressions? Awesome! Car is nice and mellow in the mornings, no rattling/tinny sounding in the mornings anymore. Car has more "bass" to it and is a bit louder, but overall still rather quiet. Very mellow when accelerating as well. Overall, I think this is a great combo for people looking for some power from the DPs and open muffler, without making the car too annoying or obnoxious. Well done, Maddad! This is a muffler truly becoming of a BMW! |

So you added again the secondary cats in the line. Did you feel any significant "less power" issue there?
Im receiving the n55 mids this week. I have catless dpipes installed, but I dont know if I will need add an aftermarket axleback. Anyways I want to delete those mids cats and get some extra whp´s...

I have the same setup and love it also. I'd like to open up the midpipes to gain a few HP, but don't want to change my current sound and I already notice the smell occasionally (mainly just at drive-ins).

I am running AA DP's, Maddad mids and Maddad axelback. Sounds great but smells. However, I don't mind it that much. It is only bad if you are sitting still for 5 minutes or more.

I recently installed the n55 mids on my n54. Now I have your old configuraton. As you told us, the sound is awful. Do you think adding axleback to this I will eliminate ratling and get more "bass"? Idont care about the smell, but Im getting crazy with the sound...
