Travelling RTW :)

I will be travelling around the world starting next week for some business and leisure, and just want to see if anyone wants to meet up .

I am not sure about posting my exact dates on each location, but I will be travelling through these places:

Dubai
London
Cologne - then driving to Schloss Elmau for a few days
Timisoara
Bucharest
Munich
San Diego
Tokyo
Hong Kong

So, anyone keen to talk cars let me know.

would love to talk RiD with you and Cologne ain't that far from here, but next weeks are quite busy

Perhaps Dackel can link you to the Munich crew.

Safe travels; the Munich, SanDiego, Tokyo bit sounds tough, although imo there's no better jetlag medicine than the Japanese cuisine

Any recommendations which rental company to go through. I was told Hertz doesn't do one way, but I personally haven't checked it myself. Seems like Hertz does it - does the cars usually come with winter tyres?

Try using SIXT. I travel fairly often and the only thing they seem to care about is people taking their rentals to the ring. Other than that, I've dropped their cars off at random airports all over Europe. The prices are on the reasonable side also.

I'll be Dubai for three or four days next week. Unfortunately I'll be working 14 hour days, so free time is going to be slim to none. I can give you some pointers on places to eat and things to do though.

Sixt.de or Europcar.de are the two major rental compaies in Germany. Both companies you can drop off at any of their centers in Europe(ie one way). Hertz, Avis, Budget and Enterprise are much smaller operations in DE.

They're situated are in a winter sport area, but 1M drivers are rarely high-strung, so I'd go with winter tires. If you wanna rule out bad luck, weather-wise, go for the x-drive. Perhaps also check with castle staff before heading to the rental counter.
