Nice catch... Missed that on the first read through... Done another search and can't find anything that does post-2008 cars...

I found these as recommended on other forums, pretty sure they're the right cables:
http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/...&product_id=16 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200696159...ht_7089wt_1270 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/260924816...ht_3643wt_1270 I lowballed an offer to one of the ebay ones, see how that goes... |

it is always hard to do something special on our cars in Perth. I have a VW and always want to use VAGCOM to add a few features on the car but no one in Perth can do it, and if costs USD250 for the cable! Unlike in US there are some members who can do it for you.
any one interested in buying the cable and we can share the cost? let say if we can get five people to join and each of us just paying $20? I'm pretty sure the cable will be just once off job, so it will be cost effective if we just buy one cable. anyone in Perth want to do this?

That is a pretty good idea. Superdaws- did you say you had the cable and are in Melbourne? I could share some of the cable cost to borrow it for a short period.
Anyway, I'll see if my ebay offer is accepted, if it is I'm obliged to complete the transaction. |

DONT BUY THE CABLE UNTIL YOU READ AND KNOW WHATS GOING ON is all i can say. The cheapo ones generally dont work. Cost me $90 AU shipped for my cable.
Read first, buy later!

Edit: Did some more research and did not find problem with this particular one. Most works out of box, a couple had faulty ones which were replaced with this higher quality model. Well, will know once it arrives! Last edited by x5mad; 02-01-2012 at 03:24 AM.. |

Ok this seller accepted the offer of $85. This is the same one recommended on BMW coding forums:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200696159881 I'll have a play with it in 3wks or so after my exams are done and post back results. Last edited by B-Moose; 02-01-2012 at 03:34 AM.. |

Im not an expert, but i dont think that one will work on newer than 2010 because of pin 7 and 8 being linked. The new cars with ethernet/internet capability need pin 7 and 8 unlinked to work. most of the good cables come with the pins unlinked and with an adaptoer to plug on if you need to use it on older cars. Read up on it...
