Lights - Auto turn off?

Do the headlights automatically turn themselves off after a certain amount of time, after the car is turned off? This is with the light switch on the first position (all the way to the left). I am unable to access my manual at this time and was just wondering. If so what is the setting for this activity? All comments appreciated.

I don't know about 2012 models but in my case, all the way to the left means light in auto mode which means they turn on when it gets dar outside or of when it's bright.
light turn off when the car engine is off, they don't stay on for any amount of time.

For our 08, the parking lights will stay on I believe until you remove the key or open the door once you turn off the car. I don't think they will stay on for hours and hours, but if you just park and wait for somebody they will stay on for some amount of time, but not sure if that's ten minutes or whatever.

The headlights shut off as soon as it is turned off.
