Boom! Decided on the 3rd option. VO 1M with 30k miles. Clean carfax and service records. $62k trade-in and they will ship the car to where I am moving.

Awesome choice. The 1m looks really nice in VO. Post pics when you get it and include some of the garage mate!

Looks good, other than the exhaust tips. Those are pretty easy to clean. Get some super fine steel wool and polishing soap.

Yes, but a single owner maintained 40K mile car might be better than one that has been moved through 3 dealerships and an auction where every joe that works there has test driven it cold many, many, many times and the oil changes were 2 years and 15K miles apart. I know what you mean but I can guarantee that my car was 10 times more lovingly cared for than a car that has been through several dealerships. Not that you shouldn't buy one either but just taken into account.
No question about that. But given that both cars are unknowns in terms of how hey we're used and treated, the smart money is always on lower mileage imo. Now if he were deciding between velvet purple with a canvas tan top compared to VO then there would be a debate, but in this case bsm, aw, vo all look equally awesome each in their own way

Yes, thanks!

The M4 is quite an amazing car. Earlier this month I literally took a 4 person road trip to the Smoky Mountains from Chicago for 5 days and ran the Tail of the Dragon 3 times while down there. It's great in that Jekyll and Hyde aspect; HOWEVER, I wanted something more focused, more raw, and a car that feels smaller. The M4 feels big for a 3600lb car. When I started thinking of what cars out there that could give me that, I thought of a Cayman R, GT4, 1M, or a Lotus. GT4 was more than I wanted to pay, I was unsure of Lotus due to the sparse network of dealers/parts, so the Cayman R and 1M were it. The 1M provides a bit more usability than a 1M and is a little cheaper (at least for now).

I won't really miss the M4. I had the MPE on there and it screamed but I am looking forward to a stripper.

Nice to see guys that appreciate the simplicity and rawness again. Welcome! I sold my first 1M. And waited for F80 M3, 235i and M2. While amazing cars I was drawn back to the 1M and bailed on my first in line M2 and bought a VO in Toronto and imported it to the US and drove it with wife and kids from Toronto to San Diego.

Congrats, did you get that in South Bend? Have they done the airbag recall yet?

I believe that 1M is #513.

Obsolete (and aren't they all?!) navs just add ugly.
