Slek Front lip install need help..
I bought this lip and installed with double side tape like the site states.. There are seperations in multipal sections from pressure and one forum member stated that it came off on the hwy... The shop that installed it is going to try using beta link.. My expirience with the rear deck wing was the same.. Tape= take off // beta link = stay...
Has anyone else had this issue with this lip? |

You use both the double sided front tape + screws in the OEM locations for the lip. It won't come off on the HWY unless the installation was botched or you scraped it in the middle and created some type of air pocket.

You don't need to drill extra holes. It should have little points where you're supposed to drill them into the lip so that they match up with the OEM mounting points.

Don't remember the count, but it's basically all the OEM mounting points I believe. That plus the double sided tape up front. If you want exact answers just PM the vendor you bought it from.

I had mine installed at SLeK when I picked it up, was the tape and like 8 or 9 screws. You use all the same OEM screws except you will need 2 longer ones but they use all OEM mounting points. NO DRILLING. If you drill you did something wrong.

If you put the screws in you shouldn't have any issues they should be holding the lip on and the tape is the backup. The only issue I have ever had is I don't fit in the car wash anymore. But no install or anything like this.

Interesting. I drove home from the shop on the highway and highway drove basically every day since and I'm still good. Are you sure the screws actually hit the OEM holes and are tightened down?

yup feels solid.. but the double side tape is seperating ... Everyone keeps saying that it will flip down and i'll run it over if there are any air pockets not sealed by the tape....

The tape you need to use is 3M VHB. Be sure to prep both the paint surface and the rear of the lip with an IPA solution, "bug and tar remover" or mineral spirits to strip off any detailing product or contaminants. Then, heat up the surface a little bit with a heat gun before applying the tape to the paint surface.
Once the tape is on, heat it up again a bit with a heat gun and then push the lip up against it. Hold it there for 30-90 seconds and it should bond just fine. |

I bought a slek lip used and aborted my first attempt at getting it installed. I also have a Kerscher lip which I might just use instead since it appears to be easier to install. I haven't made up my mind yet.
