Seems your dealer was ahead of the game... All early Feb production has been pushed back to week 9 ie end of Feb with arrival end of April to early may

Argh I think I asked for that when I was gloating about my production date earlier

OH NO !!

I just confirmed it . . . My week 6 is now a week 9 build, too.

I just can't believe it.

Wouldn't that then mean that those cars scheduled for production the 9th week of the year would still arrive ~6 weeks later (ie early to mid April as opposed to May)?

Doesn't jibe that a 3 week postponement in production would result in a 5 week postponement in delivery.

Just called the BMW 800 number and my car is still on production schedule. I asked if they had heard of a production delay and they said no.

well, as (bad) luck would have it, looks to be right. i would still attribute it to luck. i'm not sure that he really knew about this before everyone but you never know. either way, what a bummer.

i'm going in to talk to him tomorrow. if i hear anything new, i'll post it up.

Just to add another data point to the thread... I originally had a week 7 build that has moved to week 9. I read in another thread that it may be due to color choice...does anyone know if this is true?

Although I am not thrilled about potentially waiting until may to have my car, I was able to secure a loaner vehicle from the dealership. My current car is due back from lease at the end of Feb., and after a small amount of complaining to my dealer, he offered up the vehicle.

Out of curiosity, what production numbers are being moved?
(Mine is 3902XXX and I am supposedly the 1st to order at my dealer...)

Check again, using the 800 number some of us have found our cars have started production. I was originally week nine, now mine will be finished on the 24th of Jan.

Good Luck

FWIW, I ordered Montego Blue, was initially week 7, and entered production today.

I am so confused...BMW keeps changing their minds.

As suggested, I called the 800 number and they said production should start the week of Feb. 4.

Here's to hoping the date doesn't slip...

I am also confused. Mine was the 8th week and then while I was still on the phone with the rep it changed to the 4th week and then tonight I was told the first week of Feb.

BMW is obviously building 1 series for the US as fast as they can. It is not logical or financially feasible for them to store them as unsold inventory until May. March 22nd -- probably.

True, but they are making more money on a UK or Sweden build (or pretty much anywhere else) than a US build... by a LOT. Still though, these reports of delayed delivery until May are probably bunk. We've already established that the info from the 800 number swings outrageously from day to day.

Yep.

But until my car arrives, I will continue to track it and speculate as to what is going on. It is my new hobby.
