Bye Bye 130i

My recent head scratching about what to do with the 130i came to an abrupt end while on my way to meet a friend/client.

An older gentlemen in a Corolla 'failed to give way' and essentially T-Boning me while on the Stuart Highway. Tried to duck into the outside lane and squeeze past but wheel/rear driver's side door caught the impact. Spun the car and ended up pointing the wrong way on the Highway.

I had one of my employees with me and was a bit worried about that, but nobody was hurt and it was all good. We exchanged insurance details and the guy was really nice and apologized profusely.

My baby is probably a write off since the chassis and axel seem to be bent. The guy at the Panel Beater said that'll be the most likely outcome.

Which is a real shame since I just got the new set of PSS on there and had the mid-service oil change and had a the gearbox oil changed too (so much smoother - stuff fill for life!). Was really interested in how it'll all contribute to my lap times next week. Quite funny, since some of you know, the 130i really doesn't get driven much and I just felt like it in the morning!

Took 2 pictures at the crime scene;

That sucks man but it's good to read you're ok.

Just make sure you're still feeling ok in a few days, sometimes pain from an accident can take a bit to manifest.

What will you do for a replacement if the car is written-off?

Argh! Glad to hear everyone is OK. Now you can turn it into a full track weapon after buying back the writeoff ;-)

Thanks for the kind word mattyv and the advise. Had a slight neck pain, but I think it might be from the gym - feeling okay for now, hopefully should be okay.

My work car is a A5 Sportback and our company owns a 993 Cab as well, so will just juggle between them till the 1M arrives!

Thanks FJP, she was nice looking car. I see you now and again - usually in the work car - always think how sexy your car looks!

Hope the payout is okay, had a chat to Craig at Auto-care today and he reckons it'll get written off. So we'll see, hope the payout is half decent.

Been at the track for every meeting for the last couple of months. Was really excited about this running with the new tyres on. I will come down next week and be sure to say hi. What colour's your Silvia, so I know?

It was great fun. Sorry mate, the tyres went on 2 weeks ago, they were/are crazy good!

Yes MrBlonde, definitely a relief that nobody got hurt - could have been a whole lot worse.

With the buy-back; how feasible do you think it is? Was actually considering turning into one but had my heart set on a 993 track car.

If the axel and chassis is bent, can we still turn into a track car economically?

No indeed.

If they let me take it off, it's all yours. PM your email and I'll email you if I can get it off the car.

Just looked at the picture again. On the second picture right above the fuel cover, the reflection of the sign looks like a sad/crying face - must be the car!

hahaha, you do make a good point MrBlonde. What I meant is, at a reasonable cost? I have been looking at a few 911s and some of them are pretty well setup and ready to go. Anywhere between $40-70K.

The Porsche will be more suited as a track car.

I am not saying that just because I am a Porsche man, but I have experienced both 1 series and 911s as track cars, and it is clear to me that Porsches are designed to be track focussed cars.

Way, I do get your point. I was tossing up the idea of the stripping the 130i for a while now. But the 130iguy post about the guy in the UK and his oversteer problems really highlights the failings of the chassis.

My concern with the 911 is that it'll become next ending money pit - but that's any track car I guess. I think just want the first Porsche I buy personally, to be something a bit special.

Save up for a 996.1 GT3. You know as well as me that GT series Porsches are the best track car.

Hey Alik, the silvia is midnight purple with gold/broze rims. Hopefully it makes it through the session - it my hobby car at the moment.

Your getting a 1M? Awesome! Would love to check it out when you do, I almost went down that path too but I love mine too much to let it go.

GT3 is always high on the list Way, most likely the way I'd go at this point. Was chasing WW new GT3 in the 993 for most of the morning and that thing is just amazing!

That Silvia shouldn't be too hard to find! Definitely will come say hi

Super excited about the 1M - May build so should be in town around August. More than welcome to take it for a spin when she gets here.

With the all the performance bits yours would be pretty sweet drive and looks like you have it just the way you want it!
