Injector replacement/recall diagnosis?
Just got the car back after having the hpfp, seatbelt and software updated. i was surprised to see that no injectors were replaced.
what process do they use to see if any of them need replacing? would it be throwing codes, or found during some sort of pressure test? i want to know if they even looked at that area. I only have 9000 miles on the car (2 years old now) and have only used Sunoco 93 from day one.

Your VIN will tell what you need done. Many are getting the HPFP and Software with no Injectors. Some got 3 injectors. Mine runs the same as it did before, great.

I just went in to have them take a look at my HPFP and perform the seatbelt recall. They ended up checking the injectors and had to replace 5 of the 6. Before I brought it in, the care felt noticeably sluggish. The HPFP wasn't replaced (that would be my third).
What I find strange is that the care now long cranks (I define 'long' as about 1 second, as the car started instantly for the first 2 years of ownership. Also, for the first 3 or so minutes after a cold start, the car kind of sputters until it gets going. It's hard to explain, but it's almost as if its struggling to get fuel for the first 2-3 mins, then it's fine. Anyone seen that? |

They pull out each injector and test it on a machine/check it's numbers to see if it's from a known bad batch. If it's a shotty one, it gets replaced, if not it goes back in.
I made nice with the lead tech at my dealership and he just replaced them all for me when I got my HPFP recall done last month |

In January 2011 I have had the HPFP recall installed and 3 injectors. In June had hesitation problem. It was one of the other 3 injectors. hmmm. Dealer replaced the other 3 injectors. Last week had my free oil change and plug replacement. I'm hoping I'm good go now for the long run. Car runs great, like new.

I took mine in last week for all the recall stuff. They replaced three injectors and replaced the teflon seals on the other 3 (I would imagine part of the R/R process in pulling and/or testing ther injectors). Car has been noticably snappier since the replacement, I was expecting the exact opposite given posts about the reflashes.
