In the US Blue Tooth was an option. And if you didn't get it tough tits...they gave you a wiring harness that could not be modified to be BT!
Thank you BMW!

Does anyone know if you can update the Maps for the 08 135i Navigation system? It is the only one that is different from all of the 1er's and 3er's. The flip up nav.

Anyone know if there is a torrent or way to download the maps for Japan?

The '08 is the DVD based system, so you just put in the new updated DVD. You may need updated firmware for the latest DVD though.

I had a very good experience with Navi-Expert. $120 for the North America 2013 maps and an FSC code... both were delivered within an hour after my order went through.

Copied the files to a flash drive and then took ~40 mins to complete the update.

Just took a look at the site and it seems to be based in Russia. No offense but a myriad of scams initiate from that country. Anyone else have a good experience with this company and not have their identity stolen?

There is a guy called Baccus advertising on the forums now. He is charging a good price. I won't quote it here because he didn't post it in his post but it is less than any I have seen here or elsewhere. Anyway, I purchased from him and got the 2014 maps and the code and all worked like a charm. He sent me the download link for the maps which I threw on a 32gb stick. I just plugged it into the car using the code he provided and all worked fine.

Anyways..not trying to schill for this guy but it was easy and really inexpensive so I thought I would share.

From a courtesy I see that there's some minor UI changes, with much better mapping, along with automatic Day/Night mode on the 320i I was getting. Is our cars compatible with that Software? Mine is a 2009 135i with Nav. Thanks!

The 320i you had driven has the newest NBT Touch iDrive, a totally different system from what we have got in our cars (CCC & CIC). You can only update the maps (and bluetooth compability if the car has Combox).

Hi guys. My friend didn't add navigation as an option when they bought the car. Is there a way to enable it ? If I buy the fsc code and a map update will it work ?

Thanks

No. Your Head Unit is not capable of it. You would need to retrofit a new Head Unit.

how do you update the operating system, instead of the maps? Having a hard time understanding how I get the software update from bmw when my vin isn't registered with them as having idrive. I'm talking about bmw.com/update

bmw.com/update is only for updating Bluetooth firmware in Combox equipped cars (CIC) or NBT.

If you want "operating system" updated, you need dealer programming or flash all Control Units with E-Sys.

hmmm. I'll take your word that it's for only combox. But it does change things inherent to the UI like bugfixes to 'office', stuff like that, according to the readme. Are there any good reasons to update the firmware then? I have seen some bugs with my system, one off UI issues.

I guess my question is, is there a list of firmware revisions with a change log? So someone could then compare and decide whether to get it flashed?

Office is a Bluetooth function as well. It works only via your mobile phone.

Updating firmware sometimes fixes bugs or adds new features. It makes sense to update only if you are having a problem known to be fixed, or wanting a newly added feature.
