E90 value after 1 year?

I've been trying to guess what the value of my e90 (330i, Sp Gr, Manual, Sport, Heated Seats, Premium) will be after one year. On autotrader.com, most 2005 330i models are going from anywere between 34k to 38k with a few higher/lower. This is the closest data that I could find.

Is it a fair guess that our e90's will depreciate to about the same in one year?

PS..Getting ready for that sexy coupe with possibly 300+ HP.

The 1st year of ownership is the typically the biggest hit. Expect it to be $6000-10,000 less then MSRP.

Those asking $34-38k for a 2005 E46 330i are high!

BMW had $4500 in trunk money (rebate) prior to the release of the E90 330i. Minus $4500 off Invoice =

Approx. 30% in first year sounds about right. Another 28% for the next 2-3 years combined.

First year is the cruelest.

everyone wants a new car,

the second you leave the lot the car is used

the difference between a 3 year old car and 4 year old car however is pretty small

but the difference between new and used is huge

So if its less 30% than...if my selling price was 40500, than after 1 year, the cost depreciates $12,150? So the car's worth is approximately 28,350 after 1 year? This doesn't sound right...

thats what you would probably be able to trade it in for. The dealer will resell the car for a lot more than that though. It amazes me what they charge for used E46's with low milage.

The advantage a BMW Center has over an private seller is the CPO warranty.

you can't really compare HK prices to US. The tax rate already took 50% off the price you paid since you pay about 100% car tax there.

Here is where I think the leasing residuals are a pretty good estimate. The 24 month residual for 12K was something over 70%. The 36 month residual was something like 61%. Residuals are fairly equivalent to the wholesale price as most of the time the bank can take the car and make a few bucks at auction. If you wanted to sell it private party, I think you could add an additional 5%. So at the end of 2 years I would say a 330 with a $40000 sticker new would sell for 28K-30K to an individual, and a 3 year old one would sell for about $25-27K. Of course, location, color, options, etc. could have a pretty big change in those figures.

heres a real world scenario for you guys right now, on ebay
http://motors.search.ebay.com/2006_3...ofocusZunknown

now these are buy-it-now prices.

06 325i with SP 5k miles $32,000.00
06 330i SP PP auto 5k miles $39,377.00
06 325i auto 6k miles closed to wholesale
06 325i manual SP 3k miles US $32,999.00
06 325i auto 9k miles $29,900.00

id say its seller are still commanding top dollar, but of crse what they want and want they get are two different stories. But Id say most of these sellers are going to sell their cars close to these prices.
