rear subframe bushes

Just got the rear subframe bushes fitted and from the short drive back to work, it was money well spent. It's a shame it didn't come out of the factory with better bushes because the ride is so much smoother and predictable. No more bouncing around. They seriously can't be putting soft hollow bushes for comfort sake.

I'm definitely eyeing this off as my next mod.

Where did you get it done? Cost?

More details please. What springs and shocks do you have?

Have you put M3 front end mods as well?

Stock suspension. I have the e93 m3 front sway bar.

Can't remember how much the parts were (ill have to look it up) but fitting was $540 including a wheel alignment.

Price sounds ok. I thought it was a pretty big job to drop the subframe and fit the bushings with a press.

I was thinking doing the rear bushes as well, can't seem to find a place that has done them before and most said around a day to fit them as you have to take out the subframe.
RX did my M3 rear sway bar which you can lower the subframe to fit the swaybar but to install subframe bushes the whole subframe needs to be removed, big job.
Can you name the place who installed them so we can invade them with a heap of our cars for subframe bushes.

Garage List
I seriously want to do this but the other night I made the mistake of doing a rough estimation of what I've spent on my car over the last 12 months...

I really need to slow down...

The rear M3 bushings make a HUGE difference in the way the car drives. What really impresses me most is how much better the front suspension seems to work now. And that dreaded rear wiggle is gone now! BMW really should have built our cars with these M bushings. Here is my write up about the install...

Dackel's replacement of rear suspension OE bushings with M3 ones…

Agree 100% with your review

Along with the wheel alignment that was done (it was a bit off before), the cars just feels more solid and that "rubberband" effect that you're talking about is gone.

The "rubberband" feel was a feature of my 335i when I changed from runflats to normal tyres. When accelerating hard it feels like loss of traction on a wet road, gets into a slight weave. Ugly!

I found there's quite a big difference with the M-sport suspension between the 3 series and 1 series. 3 series feels firmer and more planted by comparison. Should I assume that they both have the same subframe bushes? For whatever reason the 1 series isn't as precise, especially when the body-roll comes into play.

I'm keen to do this mod, & maybe upgrade the rear sway bar while the subframe's out. Did a track day at Lakeside yesterday & I've still got too much understeer. I need to either put the front bar back to stock or put in a beefier rear.

Hi Tim, how come you would put the stock Front SB back in? I thought the bigger Front SB reduced understeer?

Also, which rear SB are you looking at? I think I'll do the same and switch out the rear bushes and rear SB at the same time to save on labour costs.
