How far below MSRP can you go?

Hello again.

I know this question has been asked before, but I'm going to ask it again.

I know that MSRP stands for "Manufacturers Stupid Ridiculous Price"

So, I guess my question would be, in your purchasing experiences, how much below MSRP are BMW dealers willing to go?

What sort of negotiating tactics have you used to get them to get you a vehicle?

I know that dealers will try and get the more "unpopular" models off the lot, but I'm guessing that room to move suddenly gets a lot tighter if the vehicle has to be custom ordered.

I know in a previous post, someone mentioned that they got 7k off, but they were leasing. I'm interested more in people who've financed.

What have been your experiences? I don't want to get laughed off the lot.

Thanks.

In all honesty I think MSRP - $XXXX isn't that accurate as from what I know most dealers deal with % over cost to make money. I recently ordered a custom build car in Dec. a 128i with coral red leather and sports package. Total msrp was $37,700. I walked in, told them I wanted their cost plus +500 they gave me their cost + 310. which was $35,000 flat. I then had to pay all the admin fees and taxes and such and it came out to be roughly 42,060. If you're looking at just the b4 tax price I got $2,700. This is for a brand new custom build 2010 128i. If you want those $5000-7000 off msrp prices you're going to have to wait for cars that are nearing the end of their production year like the 2010 and on the lot models. At least from my experience I haven't seen anyone get more than $3,000 off msrp with a made to order car. The likelihood of that happening is pretty rare. I also got a referral which gives $200 bucks to a friend of mine which means I get another $200 off lol.

But like shawn posted above, you should take a look at the dealer's cost and just tell them straight up that the other dealers will give you cost + a couple hundred and they'll try to work out a deal for you.

I know people who have used that site and added 100-300 above dealer cost and the dealer has accepted it...
One guy got a new G for $95 above dealer cost as he told them he wouldn't pay any more.

Typically you dont tell them you are using CCC, you figure out your own prce you wish to pay after you compare the MSRP and the Dealer invoice, and you tell them that number. The negotiations start from there...

Wow I didn't know there was a referral program, and I referred my buddy whom is signing a deal tomorrow as well. Going to have to check with my sales rep about some $$
