Your car is the only one I have seen but from a different angle. Do you have springs?

I think this forum is terrible for finding information.

I am also thinking of doing this. I am wondering what did it cost? And the process. If you had to do it over, would you do anything differently? Any good advice for us?

I assume they sandblast the rims and remove everything down to the metal.

I have 1 rim with some rimrash... and it's not pretty. I wonder if the places are capable of fixing that at the same time. I can sand it myself, but rather have a place do it that specializes in this.

Also would they not need to remove the rubber tires?
Would they not need to remove the weights?
Basically the tires would have to be re-mounted, I would think.

The idea of black rims on my AW/Coral would really be really sweet, not to mention that the ugly brake pixy dust would no longer matter!

This is the time for us in winter areas to do this too. I would love to setup a group buy too in this area. Maybe a great way to meet up, say go skiing and drop off and then pick up a week or 2 later. To cut the costs. It's a thought.

EspressoBoy

PS
I know many do not care but re-use is the first choice for a green planet, and instead of going out and getting new rims, I would like to re-use! I like the oem rims a lot!

There are bunches of photos of powedercoated rims, search is your friend:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/searc...earchid=589412

Espresso: you are correct, everything comes off the wheel, then it is sandblasted, then coated, then baked. Road rash will disappear. Count on a day for prep, a day for coating and baking, and a day for curing - at least. ~$300-$400 seems to be the general price range.

onehungevo exactly what brand and color code powdercoat is that on your evo? I have been searching for that exact color. Originally I wanted to find a finish similar to an Acura TL type-s:

but now I think I like your evo color even better with the metallic flake sparkle:headbang: (Plus I can't find the factory Acura code for sh!t)

Thanks!

I agree with you, but I do wish these rims were as light as some of the aftermarket ones that many here have swapped in.

Note: I realized that the rims in the pics I posted above could be painted instead.

The color is speed metal black with high gloss but I can't remember the brand. They look much better in person. I'm looking for a gunmetal color exactly like the vette rims.

Paint chips but looks good. You can get powdercoat to look that good with high gloss.

How wide are the stock 135i Rims? Also, how much does it cost to powdercoat and pinstripe the stock wheels like this one.. Can stock rims handle 380hp/420 tq?

Thanks

The rims are fine but the stock run flats struggle with the added power
