If you have idrive you can go into the vehicle settings then settings for lights. There will be an option to enable/disable high beam assist if you have it. There's also a sensor (its a camera) facing out the windscreen:



Not sure if it was standard on 1Ms, its a rare option on a 135i. I retrofitted mine for driving on twisty country roads at night.
