Tons of good options for the 1M! The top selling for IND has been the Akra EVO and Eisenmann Race.

I would love to see that happen as well but guys, be realistic, when did BMW release any new product let alone an exhaust option for a car which is out of production (ours is almost)?

Don't they make parts for the E46 3 series?

What do you mean by "they"? I really don't know anything from BMW itself, aftermarket yes but did BMW released any brand new product after the E46 ended production, if that happened I had no idea.

Other info I gathered which was new for me; those huge titanium tips are 90 mm. diameter (stocks are 76 mm.) and it (still) fits with stock difusor as well as their own they say. It is a full catback exhaust (no need for aftermarket mids). The price is right there in the middle of a let's say on one side Evolve-Supersprint, Eisenmann or Remus and on the top end Akra. Quite more expensive than the first bunch which are all good. And they have two options: full titanium (very expensive like Akra) or stainless steel with (the exact same) titanium tips.

Just to clarify, I was informed Vorsteiner system retains the stock downpipes with cats and sensors. You say below "full downpipe back", are we saying the same thing?

Hi my friend!!
Downpipe back is midpipes + catback.
Turbo-Back will be the full setup with downpipes.

Cheers!

The o2 sensor is located in the downpipes so removing the secondary cats will not cause any CEL. There are no sensors in the secondary cats.

Dinan Performance Exhaust FAQ

Does a louder exhaust make more power?
Not necessarily. A freer flowing exhaust makes more power by removing friction in the exhaust system but how loud an exhaust is has to do with its packing material and or routing. It is possible for a loud exhaust to actually make less power than a stock exhaust. The best exhaust is the one that is the freest flowing and has a noise level that you enjoy.

What makes an exhaust "hummm" under light throttle?
This sound is commonly called "drone". It is caused by resonance in the exhaust system and can quickly give you a headache. Drone is the toughest characteristic to remove from an exhaust system. The use of a "hemholtz" chamber to work as a noise canceling device is a great option along with the use of butterfly valves when needed.

How are Dinan exhausts made?
All Dinan exhausts are designed and hand built in California at the Dinan Headquarters. They are welded by hand using precise tools to ensue perfect fit. All are built from 20 gauge-304 stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance.

Does the kind of steel used matter?
Yes. Your cars exhaust is subjected to the elements and other harsh conditions that occur under a car. The exhaust gets hit with gravel, salt, water, sand and whatever else is on the road. Using high quality stainless steel keeps corrosion at bay in this tough environment.

Please PM me for further information.

Latest news from MILLTEK....

I had a full Milltek system fitted to my 1M and found it to be a great system but a little too refined, too quiet..... So being a UK Milltek dealer I took my car over to their development centre and we set about to give the car some attitude!

We created a non-resonated centre section which replaced the MILLTEK silencer and boy does it now sound great! Ever experienced an RB26 engined R32/33/34 GTR Skyline? Thats the howl my 1M now has when you wind up the revs .

The other great quality MILLTEK always offer is that the system is as quiet or as loud as the driver wants it to be. On cold start up it barks until the revs settle but once up to temperature on constant throttle at 60,70,80,90MPH its not too loud in the car (only marginally louder than stock) but the awful drone associated with the stock BMW system. But when you press the loud peddle it wakes up into a glorious 6-cylinder turbocharged howl and sounds glorious.

Milltek parts available for the 1M are as follows:
Left hand Secondary cat-bypass pipe
Right hand Secondary cat-bypass pipe
Centre silencer assembly (resonated / quieter)
OR NEW Centre section NON-Resonated (louder)
Connecting pipe
Rear silencer assembly with quad 80mm GT80 tailpipes

Pipework is 3"

Here are some images of what MILLTEK offer:

MILLTEK full primary-cat back exhaust system WITH CENTRE SILENCER next to the OE 1M BMW exhaust system:

The MILLTEK Centre silencer & secondary cat-bypass pipes (looking forward to the engine)

Our NEW MILLTEK Non-Resonated (centre silencer removed) centre section & secondary cat-bypass pipes (looking forward to the engine)

And from the rear of the car:

We stock all the MILLTEK parts here in the UK and can send out mail-order to the UK or Export to Europe, Asia, Australia.

Cheers, Chris

After much searching, I've come to realize that there aren't many in-cabin sound clips of 1M aftermarket exhausts.

Are there any aftermarket exhaust owners who would be willing to share some in-cabin sound footage? In particular it would be *great* to hear some highway cruising as well as accelerations and downshifts. It would much appreciated!
