FT + Cash: Your 1er LCI halogens for my LCI retrofits

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 375.00

Location:
✓ Will Ship

Item Interest
I want to do another set of retrofits for 1er using a different set of bi-xenon projectors and amber halos instead of white. I am willing to trade my set of retrofits for someone's LCI halogen headlights plus cash. My car is in storage and I figure it would be a great time to start a project if someone is willing to trade.

Pros:
Simple installation for direct plug and play, no codes are thrown!
These perform better than BMW's HID projectors
The halo's are brighter and whiter than any stock bimmer (Outperform LUX)
No condensation for the 7 months I ran them
Only been run for seven months, so fairly new for HID lifespan
Engineered by me to make replacement of bulbs or ballast simple, just in case.
Double high beams! (Halogen and bi-xenon high beam functionality)
There is a sharp cutoff and colour flicker that is addicting to look at.
People move over

Cons:
8 LEDs went out on the eyebrow on the passenger side. So I disabled the eyebrow light and I am only running angel eyes.

These look pretty nice. I have a 2012 with the LCI halogens and may be interested. I was planning on going depo in the spring but your lights look a lot nicer. What are you using for the projectors? What bulbs and ballasts does it take? Are the angel eye bulbs replaceable if they go out without tearing the entire light apart? How are they currently wired for drl, to just have the angel eyes on? Will these require any coding to get to work properly? Sorry for all the questions, they are nice lights and I would like to know more

Great questions:
Projectors: Morimoto FX-R Bi-Xenons
Bulbs: Morimoto 32W D2S bulbs, and it will take any type of D2S bulbs
Ballasts: Morimoto 35W D2S Ballasts
Angel Eyes: They are being driven by a current driver. If one of them goes out then the current driver needs to be replaced. I marked each driver to its corresponding angel eye for easy replacement. Mine have been running strong with no issues for 7 months.
DRL: Disable DRL's through the on-board computer, they do not provide enough power to power the ballasts properly.
Wiring: I have the angel eyes wired to the low beams, so when the low beams come on so do the angel eyes. If you are interested, I could wire it like Audi's and have them turn on/off with the turn signal instead.
Coding: NO CODING REQUIRED, direct plug and play.

Hope that answers all of your questions.

Good luck, looking forward to see the design! I would have enjoyed doing this project as well, but I managed to get a good deal on a 135i...

I'm definitely interested. My main problem is the weather. I live in Chicago and don't have a heated garage to work in to swap out the lights and send you my old ones. If you still have them when it warms up a bit at least for a day or two so I can do the swap then I'm in.

How hard is it replacing the headlights? I have 2008 with halogens but looks like you are looking for newer halogens than that.

If a trade goes through I will give a detailed documentation of a new process to take apart the headlights. Hopefully others will use it other than making retrofits.
