Wheel Options

I really like the 216 wheel option (wheels that are purchased at the dealer). When I learned that these wheels would be purchased in addition to the wheels that are on the car, that got me thinking...

Since I live in a climate where I will need snow tires (or at least not summer tires), perhaps I should order the car with the 17" wheels with all-season tires and then purchase the aftermarket 18" wheels from the dealer.

Anyone else doing this?

It is not applicable to me here in sunny South Africa, but if you purchase the all weather tyres you will need to remember that your speed will be limited to 130 mph rather than 150. Not sure if that is an issue for you, but is something to bear in mind.

Alot of ppl will be going that route and hope to get the UK 18's
but for me I will be keeping the stock 18's and getting a set of 17's for the winter ( probably borbets or used e46 wheels if they clear the brembos)

Def. worth it to go your route if you have the spare cash and dont like the stock wheels and then you can ditch the run flats

I thought about that also, preeble. But in the end, I will buy 18" non-staggered aftermarket wheels.

...if you plan on getting winter tires for winter, why stick yourself with the all-seasons for summer instead of the summer perforance ones??:iono:

that said, I personnally like the 17's a lot better then the 18's you get with the sport package(in Canada on a 128), but for summer driving there's no reason to think that all-seasons would be better then summer tires, and winter tires will eat the all-seasons in winter.

You'll also pay more, at the dealer, for the 18" rims aftermarket then for the 17's (and definately more then steelies) for the winter tires.
