Black Interior (like M model)

Is there a resource of where regular 135s get rid of their grey interior (ie headliner) and update to the black interior as seen in the M model?

IF you order the "full" M-sport option on any 128i/135i you get the black M Anthracite headliner, along with; sport seats, sport steering wheel, M door sills, M-design wheels(same size though) and M-shift knob. The option code was ZMP. It also included a raised speed limiter to 250 kph instead of 210 kph.

See my post #3 for much more info...

I think he's talking about cars that have been already built (like my 2008 that didn't have the black headliner as an option at the time). And no, I'm not aware of any way to upgrade other than ordering the necessary part numbers from BMW and having a shop rip out the old one and put in the new one.

yup. hmm, not the most cost-effective way. but, anyone got the part numbers for those sleek black fabric? and that means headliner, pillars, restraint belt holders??

get one from a wreck, I would say that would be the cheapest option

I believe Einser did this on his 135i before his 1M build... maybe he can chime in.

I've done it - turned out great. I'll try to find the thread created by the fella who originally purchased all the parts (I bought from him after he sold his 1er).

It's a pretty straight forward swap...I would highly reccomed getting a trim puller tool from your autoparts store to get at some of the harder to reach clips. Also, I didn't replace the overhead light units, as you couldn't just order the shell alone, so I ended up painting them satin black with some interior spray paint (designed for this purpose also from autoparts store), being exremely careful to fully prep and mask the parts first. They came out looking factory.

The biggest PITA is the moonroof shade. I finally figured out you have to remove the sunroof glass and make the change from the top of the car...the clips that hold in the shade are pretty straight forward, it's the sliding forward, tilting, sliding back of the roof that is like a rubiks cube to figure out. Once I got that I was solid.

Also, on the actual headliner, if you are auto I found it easiest to put the car in neutral and roll the headliner forward and down in front of the shifter, then spin it and pull out the passenger side. Again, kind of like a puzzle here, but once you get the correct angles etc you will be fine.

Last but not least, this isn't cheap. I bought all the goods second hand (they were never installed as my pal got an M3 before he had the chance to do the swap). Through Dan @ UnitedBMW I think the total original cost was around $900. Ask yourself if it is worth it for the asthetics, or if that $$ could be better spent elsewhere. For me, I went ahead and did it with the deal I got, and carried on the updated interior theme with the M-sport Door sills...you'd never know my car was an '08.

I had posted a few more comments on this same topic here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...headliner+swap

Here is the original thread created by the guy I got the parts from: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...headliner+swap

Search anthracite headliner swap and you will get abut 9 pages of threads on this topic. Good luck!

You could just paint it with that dupli-color interior crude. The guys on the E90 forums have done it with no issues, they just said not to use that fabric dye stuff. So then once you paint everything you would only need to buy the hard plastic stuff which shoudl equal out to $300. I am sourcing parts as we speak and then once I get it all I will tackle the dying.

The duplicolor interior paint is what I used for the plastic pieces I didn't have when doing the job (overhead lights). No one would know they weren't factory.

I know this is old but I was curious as to taking off the B pillar. I am about to replace all my interior peices to the black and the B pillar is my concern about the seatbelt.

I just swapped mine out yesterday, only trouble I'm having is getting the t50 torx bolts that hold the seat belt strap down (to the floor) out. So far the B pillar pieces are just hanging on the belts. If you ended doing this, what tool/s did you use to unfasten them?
