Oil weight - 135i Suited to Australian conditions
I hate posting noob threads but all my searching ever found threads for the guys abroad.
Basically, relative to the weather conditions we have here, what brand of oil and weight do you recommend using in a N54 (69,000km) I am going to get a full service very soon via a mechanic, but as my car sat around for some time I really want to get some fresh lube in it just for right now (small cost of money for peace of mind imo) I plan on doing it myself. |

Use 0w40 or 5w40
Full synthetic Most use Mobil or castrol edge or redline I roll with penrite cos it's aussie made and hasn't been an issue thus far (and have been using their diff oil too) :P |

My friend was using a considerable amount of oil. He was using Castrol. I told him I didn't use any between my 5000km changes (I don't care what the condition based servicing says, I change at 5000km).
He switched over to Liqui Moly Toptec 4100 as well, and hasn't moved off of High. I also contacted the manufacturer to make sure it was suitable for E85 applications. |

Kabnine, my views are the same.
Irrespective of servicing requests I'll continue to change oil every 5,000km between my scheduled services. Welcoming more opinions, please! |
