I think it would be most helpful for anyone advising on 245/265 tires to be very specific about brands. To just state that a 265 can be made to fit the rear (stock set up) with no rubbing is simply wrong as different brands have different shapes and you're basically pushing the size limit.

The 265 size advice seems reasonable to me, considering that a 275 has already been mounted with no issues and there maybe enough room for a 285......

I can say that the 275 Star Specs I'm running are on the wide-side, for 275s, and I have room. Unless you happen to find some weirdly random enormous 265 (I'd say HIGHLY unlikely), you'll have no issue with any 265 on the market, short of an R comp or drag slick.

275 r-compounds have been test fitted on a stock 1 series. They were wider then 285/35/18 exteme summer tires. The 265 extreme summer tires that were tested, fit with great ease. All 265/35/18's street tires will fit for sure, and I have little doubt that r-compounds in that size would fit without issue either.

I had to pay $200 to get mine mounted. I asked that they do not put a tire monkey on them. I paid a bit extra to have areal tech mount them. (I've had a handful of bad mounting experiences though).

Well, BMW dealership is the only place that has been confident that they can do this no problem. and its 175$ might just have to suck it up.

Does that include an alignment? I'm thinking that might be necessary after adjusting the front camber.

If so, that's not too bad, as long as the dealer does quality work.

im very interested in this setup but would like to remain with the stock M sport pack 135i suspension on the car

will theses wheels fit with direzza sport z1 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 with stock suspension without any moification to camber?

Height of the front sidewalls is the biggest potential problem with a that setup. 235*.4=94 mm. Compare that to the stock 215*.4=86 mm. That's around 2/3" taller tire all around, all else being equal.

Also, by comparison, even the OP's 255/35 setup is still only 89.25mm from rim to tread.

I know you can run 235/40 direzza on a stock 7.5" wheel. I dont think height is an issue.

so what would be ideal size in front to run these wheels on stock camber and suspension , i know the rear is not an issue with the 265/35/18.. ideal front would be 225/40/18?

Check a page back in this thread about tires sizes. Looks like someone was able to get a 235/40 on, but there were potential issues with fender rub without camber plates. 225/40 might be the best you can do in the front with a bone stock suspension, at least if you don't want rubbing. But like they said, these should really only be put on if you're willing to modify the suspension slightly to get the proper camber in place.
