So you're upset that you only got a 128 (230bhp) as opposed to the European 130 (265bhp) or the 135 (300bhp)? Why didn't you opt for a 135 as opposed to a 128?

Sounds like sour grapes on your part...as opposed to an issue with BMW -- though I agree the days of the 330 should return, bringing with them the 130.

I'm sure, given their nature, they won't mind if you don't speak with them again. Car importers are like that.

I was curious too when the first mentioned the 1er coupe lineup for NA why they went with a 128i..maybe this is going to make it easier for them to 'update' the car in the future (which will largely be new only to the uneducated masses and not us 1er addicts).

I was also wondering the same thing! i would have killed for a 130 coupe!!!
went to the dealership to order the car without knowing WTF was going on! (surprise birthday present)
Didn't know to much about the coupe! now I know i'm going to get some mixed opinions about this! But i had the choice between a 130 hatch, a 125 coupe or a 325 coupe.
The *35 was out the question as that is just way to much power for a first car if you ask me.
Decided to go with the 1'er because it wasnt as common, and hated the hatch! so the coupe it was. I dont want to sound like im ungreatful for the car but why not bring it out with the 200kw 3.0l? i mean the coupe is the more expensive sub section 1 series?
160KW FOR THE WIN!!! :P

I think the US are getting a better deal than the rest of the world, because they get the 128i I think everybody else (or most) are getting the 125i which is less powerful than the 128i by 15 bhp I think. You see the glass as half empty I see it as half full

I know what you mean. The new Z4 3.0 has 255HP. Its kind of a jip for those who got the 128i.

I can't wait to drive the Z4.....I may have to say BYE BYE to the 135i!!!! Sorry!!!!!

^^^^^^While you're at it, say buh-bye to trunk space (when the hardtop is down on the new Z4 roadster) and buh-bye to a back seat..

Dude, just like adood84 said, the 128 isnt bad!
But in my situation i would have really liked the extra Hp. i live in Johannesburg which is at altitude hence I loose more power due to the thin air. approximately 17%! which means im sitting at about 133 kw at the fly wheel!! Its not a poser thing!
The car really has to be revved to get power out of it! A 135 was out of the question!
This isnt a complaint about the car, I love it to bits. But like so many other threads, there will always be small things that might bother you about your 1'er.

Apart from trunk space, the 1## series vert doesn't have much of a back seat anyway
