135i dinan stage 3/535xi dinan stage 2 vs. 2011 550xi w/dinan upgrade

I am new to the forum, although I have been following the posts for about one year and finally decided to join. I currentley own a 2009 135 i convertible crimson red with black boston leather, m sport package, premium package, convienance package,6 speed manual, nav, satellite radio, active steering, and it also has a stage 3 dinan package(412 hp/440 ft/lbs) on it. I also own a 2008 535 xi space gray, black leather, cold weather, nav, satellite radio,M aerodynamic kit, and a stage 2 dinan upgrade. I really like both vehicles. As you can tell I am a BMW believer all the way. I test drove a 2011 550 xi this weekend with the M sport package,M sport transmission, premium package 2,convienance,heads up display, cold weather package, jet black, black interior, and 19 inch performance wheels and tires. If I purchased the 550 xi I was going to upgrade the car with a dinan mod(495 hp/525 torque). I really liked the 550 xi and was considering trading both the 135i and the 535 xi for the 550 xi,bmw dealer gave me a very aggressive trade difference. I am having a very tough time making my decision because I really love the 135 i,especially with the stage 3 with a 6 speed, it is a great car to drive and very fast. I was just looking for some constructive opinions and guidance from some loyal bmw addicts. I would greately appreciate some opinions.

Thank You.

Two completely different cars....not sure I see the comparison. Not sure any opinion given here would hold any water for you.

True, there is little comparison between the 135 and the 550 but there are similarities with the 535. I too like the 550 but have more current interest in the 135 because I like the way you can toss it around. It sounds like you sorted out your 135 quite well. Curious question #1, did you also get the oil cooler and upgraded intercooler to go with the stage 3 and #2, if you decide to sell/trade the 135, feel free to shoot me a price by PM. Whether you sell, trade or keep what you have, life is good.

It all depends on your need's. Right now as I see it you have a weekend warrior in the 135i and daily drivable 535i. I like that set up and I would not trade both in for the 550i. If you could trade in 535i and keep the 1er to me that would be the best trade, but to give up two vehicles for a comfort cruiser (which you already have in the 535i) is ludacris. JMHO

for family use (with children) and comforts, i would go for 5 series in your case. for performance, i feel 5 series may not provide noticeable better handling than 1 series. based on what you want to mod, i feel a true m car would be better for you.

in addition, just my thought here (!!!), be careful of the trade-in price with the dealer. you may get better reselling value if you seek buyers around directly.
