2nd cup holder that can't be used unless you lift the arm rest up.

No place to hang my parking tag.

The thing is suppose to be hung off of the center mirror. It can't on the 135. So I hang it off of the cd band on the sun visor

all very good ones here, espically the rain gutter and the radio display..

i add the Velcro mat hold downs that pull out over time when you clean your car.

- Balky comfort access.
- Hideous menus on the iDrive system - this thing was programmed by trunk monkeys.
- Lousy Sirius interface.
- Lack of touchscreen on the iDrive system.
- Horrendous GPS system that doesn't seem to know north from south.
- Tiny glove box.
- Accessory BMW umbrella/flashlight that mounts on the passenger tunnel: cost nearly $100, but has the quality of a street-vendor special. (Yes, I'm an idiot for having bought this.)

Agree with many here..

1. tiny gas tank, plus small trunk, no spare tire, etc. you think someone would have figured out how to better use the space out back on this car. i have to fill up 2x/wk with only 250/tank
2. climate control - can't get air to blow directly on you, and i'm constantly adjusting mine, when it's 90+ out i ahve to run it at 65 for comfort, and when it cools off have to raise to 72 or so. first bmw and first car i'm constantly fiddling with the climate control, dealer told me within normal. the fan runs faster and does everything like it should but just doesn't seem to keep the temps right as it varies outside the car. in my 5 and roadster, both are set to 68 and that's it.
3. DTC - wtf is this stuff for anyway, if it's slick you have to turn it off so what's the sense. it's nearly bitten me a few times and my wife hates it. she's used to driving the awd 5 so just step on it and go. nothing more scary than stepping on it to pull out and having the car seem like it shut off for a moment, the DTC is SO intrusive. i try to remember to turn off everytime i get in the car but it's a pita
4. door lock button out in space above radio is a get out of seat somewhat reach for me.
5. can't just leave auto wipers on (i know some guys had issues with auto car washes in past) as on my previous cars. one position up in intermitten/auto and never had to turn on or off.
6. power access for rear seat, what was wrong with the quick flip mechanism of the e46, even on the power seats. it's unnecessary to sit there while it slowly (even on the rear seat 'fast' access button) slides forward or back.
7. comfort access or in my case- don't have the option but still have a key and a button, come on leave a key or include comfort access as a no charge. I kind of like it on my vette, it works well and at least i don't ahve to put my key in, then press the button...
8. leather that should last 1000 years since it's diamond plated or whatever they've done to it to make it firm, solid, and vinyl like...i know if i was picking up a 10 yr old model i'd love this leather because it would look like new; but i would prefer something nice to sit in that doesn't last, aka the nappa leather they used to use...

Also, in accord with everyone else.....
brake dust - a bmw thing
rain/drip edge/staining on car
run flats
soft suspension
no LSD - really?

Even with all this it's a great little car!

Here we go. Can't believe no one has pointed out the first one:

1) Only one 12V outlet and it's under the armrest, which means whatever is mounted on my dash ends up having a cord extended from the armrest straight to the windshield, which gets in the way of shifting gears in my 6MT. Also can't plug anything but my radar detector in
2) Popping noise from dash in hot days with AC on (at dealership so they can try to figure it out)
3) Excessive brake dust
4) Can't see the radio with polarized sunglasses
5) Automatic wiper light can't be seen because the steering wheel is on the way (this is just plan dumb, how can you not realize this BMW engineers...)
6) Endless beeping when turning the car on
7) Bodyroll
8) Smallest tank in the world
9) iPod usb+aux cord that came with the car is too short
10) still no iphone 4 snap in adapter which my dealership owes me for a year now and BMW still hasn't released it
11) Headlight cleaner spray makes a mess on my bumper and hood every time I need to clean my windshield.
12) Satellite radio doesn't work under bridges or tunnels but for some reason works 2 floors underground in my garage. Go figure.
13) Having friends over 6 feet tall wanting to ride in the car.
14) Having dumb friends who pull the seat height adjustment lever rather than the other lever at the shoulder of the seat to push it forward to get to the back seat, then have to actually have someone squeeze into the passenger seat and pull the seat adjustment lever while forcing the seat down to put it back in place

Alright enough whining, still love my car.

nope. don't even have an ashtray, just a little regular tray for junk such as keys, cell phone, etc. we don't even have a second one under the glove compartment or anything. it's absurd.

driving a loaner 335D and it's even worse. the one 12V outlet in that car is actually INSIDE the armrest. WTF...

^i can't possibly imagine dealing with a radar detector that can't just mount in the ashtray and has to have the cord slung across the cabin like that. So glad I have two outlets. Wow

That's a new one for me too. Can't believe BMW pulled the second one out. Why? Is a good question.

Awful design.

The other one I've mentioned many times before is the poorly designed rain gutter. Washer fluid and rain easily come into the side window.
If I crack the window a bit when it's raining, water just pours down onto the window switches, my arm, and leg.
I think it too is part of the frameless windows.
Awful design, simply pathetic for a $40K plus vehicle. This wouldn't even be acceptable in an $18K Mazda or Honda let alone a BMW, but the Mazda and Honda don't leak!
+1 especially when using the windshield cleaning fluid. if you're driving it just starts spilling into the driver side window

You can order a replacement headlight switch panel that includes another 12V outlet just below the switch. Not sure that's the world's most convenient place either, but at least it's another option. (But you'll need to figure out how to wire it, cause it doesn't include instructions for that.)

Panel with 12V outlet

My vanity mirrors have lights, they turn on when you slide the thing over
