F30 N55 Air Intake Box

Hi Guys

Just happen to see this photo, the new N55 on the F30 has a different air intake box location, is it superior than the one in our E82 N55?

Thanks.

Hard to tell where the snorkel is located from that angle. Nice to see that they incorporated a second hood latch.

Its interesting to read how BMW have been saying that the next M3 wont just be a modified N55 but by going off this photo and the OPs photo, next M3 looks like a twin turbo N55.

"It's been rumored to be an extensively reworked and reinforced N55 6-cylinder engine with a strengthened aluminium block with a heavily modified cylinder head"

A couple of weeks ago I was thumbing through Motor magazine in the newsagents and it had small interview with the head of the M division about the next M3. I recall it said that he could confirm that it wouldnt be a moded n55.

He is probably right though. I find that the journalism in those magazines is pretty sloppy, the M guy probably said it wouldnt just be a tuned N55 like the tuned N54 in the 1M. I guess it will be a proper M custom job, making it a S55 instead.
