Radar detectors

Just wondering if anyone has experience with radar detectors here in the eastern states.

yeah a mate an i had one for a few years worked a treat until one day he got pulled over by a cop that had a radar detector detector. $1500 fine

dont do it chaps. ALL of these units are highly illegal. if you have one in the boot in a box under the dog blanket you will still get in big trouble.

Yup, still legal in WA. Been using the Valentine 1 for the last 6 years and very happy with it. Doesn't go ballistic in the city as well. Mine's mounted next to the rear view mirror for better coverage.

+1 for V1. Mine does arc up quite a bit around industrial areas and fuel stations, but you get used to muting it without even really thinking about it after a while. My passengers often get a fright at first.
You can get laser reflective paint for lights and number plates too which has been shown to help with laser detection at a distance. delonixradar.com.au has some good info

it was a Cobra one, i'm not sure of the model was a fair few years ago so i'd say the tech in them now is much better.
