run 'em till they cord then get cheaper r-comps, get more track time, become a faster driver

Chris, hoosiers heat cycle very quickly. of course they have more grip than the R1s

No other r-compounds are available in 245/35/18. That makes a significant difference on the front fitment. 255/35/18 r-comps don't fit properly as they run extra wide, and 245/40/18's are too tall.

It's an availability issue.

I believe Hankook z214 C1 is available in 245/35/18 and 275/35/18. Its reputation is shorter life and less grip than R1, but more catchable, very low price.

245/40 are not too tall if you do a few adjustments

Focusedintntions, almost all I do at the track is excessive, next year my plan is to run in TT if all continues as planned.

I'm dying to get me a set of Apex's, I'm hoping to get a square setup to help with tire wear and I believe a car with 50/50 weight distribution should have 50/50 tire. Thanks for the great response again Eddy!
