cost to buy this 3-4k... cost to buy a ticket to brisbane and wait for the hood to arrive at your house... < $1000

In all seriousness I think non US buyer would be more concern of shipping cost... if the lip is $600 to australia I would hate to think how much it cost to ship a hood...

shipping a hood is not expensive using ocean freight. It would cost around 400-500 at most.

600 for a lip must have been using fedex or ups ground. If you find a freight forwarder for lip box, it can go as low as $200.

Ocean freight takes 2 weeks compared to 5 days UPS/Fedex.

Many options out there for international shipping other then ground. PM me if you have any question and I might be able to help.

It chips easier and stuff. But I'm not here to bash the product, for people that don't mind paying for it, I'm sure it will be nice.
your not even close.

A hood in the US cost around 800-1k to make depending on the manufacture you use and how good the product is. Composites shops are always going up on price in conjunction to the raise of carbon, resin, and labor.

If slek wholesales to HPA, they must be giving them 20-30% of mrsp. Leaving the manufacture (slek) around 200-300 dollars in profit or less if there is a groupbuy.

I personally know 3 shops in California that I have used to build my race cars and all have made parts for major companies that sell on bimmerpost. Its not cheap and I even think slek prices are cheap compared to other US manufactured companies (arkym, vorsteiner, SGL).

With all this said, part fitment is upon how manufacture produces that part. Mold design is a key part of the whole project. As long as your mold dude is good and your plug is perfect, you should be fine with fitment.

When you buy parts from a Chinese companies, most of the time the part is "perfect" coming out of the manufacture. When they ship the product over to the US in containers, problem is the resin the use does not hold up to the heat build up in the shipping containers. Chinese companies are now getting smart and buying good resin while will produce more business in the long run.

iCarbon was using a good Chinese company but there only problem was the gel coat they were using which will turn yellow after time with sun light exposure.

Cheers

Picked up my hood yesterday. Some pictures of a CF hood on a black car will be coming soon. Fitment was amazing. Took 20minutes to put on and align.

We'll see. I'm set on the hood with m3 vents though so it will probably be a while.

Took some quick pics while I was out doing errands today. Don't mind the missing BMW Emblem. Haven't had a chance to get it on yet lol.

Any updates on coming out with a m3 style hood (preferably with vents and no pin cutouts)

I myself actually purchased the slek lip on the group buy if you remember. It's just that as good as a company says it is it just isn't as good as oem bmw parts. Which is completely normal cuz bmw is a multi billion dollars company with a 10 digit budget and slek isn't. That's why I have a hard time justifying to pay that much for cosmetic stuff because I'm semi on the fence. And to give you an example I'll take the arkym hood you just posted.
Wow that Arkym hood is the sexiest hood iv ever seen!
