I can assure you that a great camera does not make one a good photographer any more than a great frying pan makes one a good chef.

Thanks, but good equipment helps. The D50 is certainly not the Ferrari of cameras. Like Nikki says most of it is the editing afterwards.

Hmm... this is where I tend to disagree a bit. The goal is to compose and expose a frame that does not require any editing or cropping at all. That said, it is rare to shoot that frame unless you have a lot of control over the environment.

I used to do all my "editing" in a dark room where I could crop and burn and dodge and adjust for proper color balance and contrast... and that was about it. PhotoShop makes it too easy to cheat.

Don't get me wrong or start flaming me, because I love PS and use it. But there is a distinct difference between photography and graphic arts.

Ok, enough pontificating (for now). I still like your shots.

Yep, not missing much. I surf at Black's just about every weekend, and I've become immune to the nude raisins out there, they just blend in. Every once in a blue moon theres a decent female, but rare, and sometimes the volleyball games attract a small crowd, immensely captivated by the free juggie show.

Oh and nice shots diesel. I knew that spot was ideal for photo shots and ya beat me to it. We'll havta meet up there for a shoot ...maybe this weekend...

Great shots man. I'm looking into getting a digital SLR. I just am not too convinced I have the time for it right now. Might wait a few years until some of these classes are off my back and I'm doing the masters thing...
