Is there an Aftermarket E82 Dashboard GPS Available?
Anyone know what options are available for this? I don't have factory gps or idrive just wondering if theres anything worth putting in the car that could be integrated with the stereo? Something with decent up to date graphics and a speedy os.
I found this Does anyone know if this can be fit to an OZ car? Oh Except its US$3,100 and they are use 2nd hand screens? wtf! http://www.bimmerretrofit.com/store/...&product_id=58 Cheers Last edited by thezone135i; 06-23-2016 at 02:01 AM.. |

Geez, hats off to you for the effort...........but i just wanna drive in somewhere....... leave my car, pay $$$$ and walk out with the job done.
And Id rather a sealed OTS type of unit rather than a tablet style thing that can "surf the interweb" and google redtube and download mps'3.............. |

You can replace the storage bin with a thing that accepts a garmin GPS
e.g http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=503572 Personally, I think the CIC system integrates lot better and you get a lot of advantages such as a graphical interface for the radio and music and being able to change other settings of the car, look up service intervals etc. CIC retrofit is around the $1500aud mark for a non-idrive equipped car. You'll need: CIC unit CIC screen CIC controller CIC emulator (required to fit a CIC unit that didn't originally come with the car) Mounting Cage for navigation unit (its a different part to the cage that mounts the radio) CIC screen cable connectors (can use your existing cable but the plugs need to be repinned) New centre console (you'll lose one of the cupholders which is replaced with the controller): For example this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-1-SER...IAAOSwdWBXPH2h Glovebox usb port http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Original-...oAAOSwcBhWbGog

Thanks Vincent, $1100 seems more realistic! Any idea how much it would cost fit? Eg What r doing for the next weekend : ).

I have a spare tray that replaces the storage bin and was designed to take a GPS unit, the same as the one linked above. If you want it, i'm sure we could work something out

You could go with a Dynavin. I don't have any experience with the E82 version but my sister had one in her old E39 and it was fantastic. No complaints at all. They are probably the most reputable company when it comes to aftermarket ICE and navigation.

Thats not a bad idea but Its right in front of the A/C vents and its getting upward over a grand. May as well go for the oem style one above for that kind of cash.
Thanks Fellas |

There are also Navi's that go inside the dash where the radio is...
http://www.ebay.de/itm/like/28204773...&ul_noapp=true And a Navi that replaces one of the HVAC vents...

Thanks Dackleone,
Hmmm.. not sure about those! The safest way is to have the display above the dash really. |

It's also worth mentioning that the Dynavin is more than just navigation. It also offers CD, Bluetooth, mobile calls, radio, USB, Aux, AV in etc. It's an all-in-one unit. Quote:
Let us know what you end up doing because I'm in the same boat. My 135 doesn't have navigation and I kind of miss having it. I looked into retrofitting OEM but it's a real pain in the arse by the looks of it. |

That doesn't look too bad, but it says they might not ship to Aus and even if they do what about AUS Maps?

I know they definitely have Australian maps. My sister had a Dynavin in her previous E39. I ordered the unit through a friend of mine who has a BMW parts supply business.
You could always get in touch with them and ask anything you'd like to know. I think they may even have distributors in Australia. I know they definitely have one in NZ. You could always buy through them and have it shipped here, which would probably be cheaper than buying from eBay. http://www.dynavin.com |

Yeah they're not cheap. I bought the E39 one back when the Aussie dollar was just about at parity with the US $ so it wasn't too bad. I only paid $650 for it. They seem to have become more expensive lately.
