This looks like a very clear proof to me that in 2007 BMW NA will offer the 323i/328i/335i configuration. They finally decided. Thanks god! 323i being N51 2.5L I6 NA 328i being N52 3.0L I6 NA or even N53 3.0L I6 DI NA 335i being N54 3.0L I6 bi-turbo While 5er will get the new engines in MY 2008 when also a FL will be done (really minor design tweaks, but improved chasis and new version of xDrive - from X5). |

greg, where do you see 335? i only see 323 and 328. granted there has to be a model above the 328 but i'm wondering if it's absence from these documents implies a delayed intro.? |

It will be interesting to see the effects on resale (if any) of the 2006 325i/330i versus a 2007 323i/328i...

Detune the engine (and decontent standard options) a bit for early 2007, then change back to 325/330 when the DI engines are released. 325/330/335si will be a great line-up for 2007.5. The 2.5 should help with the gas mileage concerns. A bi-turbo 2.5 would seem like a great engine for the 1-series....

I wonder if that N51 2.5 is any lighter than the N52? That would be sweet if so... All this 250+HP is worthless in the USA.
Actually a 125i Coupe with the N51 would be perfect. |

Delayed intro of 335i? No! Only the engine is still in development to fit US gas standards. 335i exhausts will be certified a bit later. |

I don't buy it. Until there is official announcement I don't believe any speculation. This "guessing" stuff is as bad as the Enquirer working on what BMW do next. |

With potentially less power? Remember, people are impressed with numbers. Smaller numbers makes people think "less", even if it is more. Just look at the issue Apple had with it's "low" numbers vs. Windows based machines and their "larger" numbers. Also, if this even plays out, the 335i being a "replacement" for the 330i is inaccurate. The 325 becomes a 323, the 330i becomes a lower numbered 328i, and a 335i is introduced. That's not a replacement of the 330i, it's just a renaming of the 330i to a 328i, and that is a problem. And, then there comes a 335i. That 335i will not replace the already top priced 330i in it's market. If the 335i makes it to the US, it will be a performance variation that will command a premium over the current 330i, and potentially the upcoming "328i". I think there is a lot of wishful thinking by some who want more power than a 330i has, but they want it at the 330i price, thus the guesses that the 330i will be replaced by a 335i for just a little more. Doubtfull is what I say, but I've been wrong before. |
