Leatherette crease?

1000 miles on the car. I've had it for a little over a month. In the seat where my behind rests, there is a large crease that is raised. This was not there when I purchased the car new. Defect or normal?

Thanks

Have to see a pic but, I ordered Leatherette for my 325 and after about 3 years it started to crack on the driver seat. The rest of the car seating looks new. If you feel its a defect, show it to the dealer. I would.

I'm going leather this time because of this. I'll have more control over what happens with leather. ie. conditioning it on a regular basis should maintain it for a long time.

Leatherette, like leather, stretches.

Are you seeing an actual crease or just a high spot due to the material not returning to it's original shape immediately after you get out of the car?

Out of curiosity. What did you do to regularly take care of your leatherette? What products did you use and at what interval?

Garage List
I am seeing it too (mainly when I get out of my car). The crease is at an angle on the right side of the seat - likely from me sliding into the seat and pushing the leatherette to the right as I slide into the seat. It tends to go away but I don't want it to start staying like that so I have been a bit more careful. After I get in, I lift by butt up a bit and sit back down and that keeps it from happening. Not sure if it will get better or worse (liklihood of happening) over time but for now I'm not sure what else can be done.

I think others are correct... as it gets hotter, the material stretches more and is more prone to this. I doubt it could be considered a "defect" and imagine the issue will disappear when it's colder outside (depending upon where you live). Keep us posted on the dealer response if you take it in. Thanks.

About 4 times a year with Vinylex. My seat is not cracked to the foam. It is cracked and the top surface of the leatherette is peeling up. But I was not happy. So I'm going with leather this time. I suggest using a seat cover for Winter .. that may save it form happening. Or at least prolong the life.
The whole point to getting leatherette is that is should be low maintenance. Maybe BMW makes a better leathette now.

I dont think it can be stopped. Maybe frequent treatments with a good vinyl conditioner. Griots might have something, They have great stuff. If I was keeping the car I would have looked into having it fixed.
