Correct tyre pressure - can't read label!

Sorry, real daft question!!

I find myself not being able to decipher the label on the B pillar which tells you the air pressure for the tyres!

The car is a 125 with 215 fronts and 245 rears.

Many thanks!!!

Off the top of my head the figures are 240kpa for fronts, 280kpa for the rears. I believe those numbers are for a fully loaded car but I always use them for fuel saving reasons.

Otherwise, take 20kpa off both and that should be the figure given for a lightly loaded car.

What do the numbers 2,0 2,3 2,5 3,0 mean?

They are arranged in a table with 2 rows and 2 columns. To the left of the table are a list of tyre sizes. On top of the table is a diagram of a car, with arrows heads pointing to the front wheel (above the L column) and rear wheel (above the R column).

Do they indicate tyre pressures (i.e. 200 kpa, perhaps 20psi) or engine capacity (i.e. 2.0 L)?

Sorry for being such a pain... and so stupid too!

Those are tyre pressure numbers measured in bars, and Europeans use the comma (,) for decimals rather than the aptly named decimal point (.). So what you're seeing is 2.0 bar, 2.3 bar, 2.5 bar and 3.0 bar.

I swear the pressures are given in kpa also, so just go with those numbers instead. Service stations all use psi/kpa

From the US manual 135i is F36/R36psi going to F36/R42psi for greater than 160km/h with a full load.

The 128i is F32/R35psi or F220/R240kpa going to F35/R42psi or F240/R290kpa for greater than 160km/h with full load.

But it should also be in the Australian Manual.

As far as the roof goes I have only had a couple of problems with the cables that control the interior roof lining. One cable came loose from its connection and when it was repaired it was overtightened and causes a hole to wear through the lining in the 'C' pillar area. So the cables and lining were replaced under warranty at about 18 months.

The second time which is being repaired at the moment has the lining snagging part of the system and preventing the one of the roof storage panels from opening and stopping the roof. I can unsnag it manually. Hopefully that should be a minor issue as well but I will have to wait and see.

Apart from that no roof issues at all. I initially thought the opening sunroof was a bit of a gimmick but it works well on those days where you get frequent showers as it takes about 25 sec to operate the roof and you have to be stationary the whole time. Like most VW sunroofs it is a little noisy when open.

I have had no major mechanical issues with the car just a seat base replaced and a valve in the intake manifold. Just don't expect BMW levels of service from the Dealer if mine is anything to go by. More room than the 1 Series convertible in the back and more performance than a 120i for a similar price. If you don't get 18" wheels then you don't get sport suspension and I found that a little soft. Plenty of performance from the 2.0 turbo but you can get traction issues.

In summary a good car but it is no BMW

thanks for that, i'll keep looking at them then, i've just heard the roof is fragile from a few people, probably a good car while still under warranty.

Can only speak from my own experience. Mine is just over 2 1/2 years old and has done 45,000km. My roof does get a lot of cycles
