Cost to have entire car stripped and custom painted?

Anybody have any idea? How much labor would be involved in stripping the car and putting it back together? I have someone that could paint it, but just trying to get an idea on how much this might be?

Far too much to be worth it.

To get it done right, so you couldn't tell it had been done, I'd say you're looking at ~$6-8k.

I know a guy who will put a great looking paint job on a car for about $4k, but to do a color change, and do it right is a hell of a lot of work.

In So Cal , the cost starts at $6000 for a good paint job, if you paint the engine bay flat black( they don’t have to take the engine out) it goes up from there. Expect to pay $4000-$12,000 depending on paint and work. The real cost is the prep work. The best jobs remove all of the part from your car (including the engine ), paint it and then reassemble the car. In general, the less masking the more expensive the job.

Why, might I ask, are you doing this? What color is your car now and what color are you planning on repainting it as?

With the amount of money this would cost you to do you could put the down payment on a new car in a color that you like.

I think you are missing the reason why most people get a custom paint job. It is a statement of individuality and a personal statement. It’s about having a car as unique as you are.

Because a custom paint job is personal, the car will lose value. Heavy cosmetic mods are NOT an investment. They are done to please the drive and the driver alone. I have had two car painted and moded out . One I gave to my brother 6 years ago (he still has it and shows it) and another that I will give to my son this summer when he turns 16.

I personally haven’t decided on what I plan for my 1er, but if it gets to the point of custom paint, it won’t ever be sold, though I might give it to someone I trust.

DON'T DO IT...YOU WILL KILL THE VALUE OF THE CAR!

If you want to be different, give the car some pinstriping BUT PLEASE DON'T REPAINT THE CAR!
