DIY broken drivers cup holder

Maybe it's time to trade for a newer model? (Wife not car lol!)

Went into stealer for a replane of roof because it was rattling ($87)
Asked for them to investigate drivers cup holder which was stuck in the dash and refused to extend.

They told me a clip was broken and I can order a new one for $385 plus install.

Worked great but I straightened my spring too much to feed it in to engage after bending so my cup holder extends 90% and I pull it the rest of the way.

What exactly does this mean?

Roof (hardtop vert) was rattling at drivers side pillar.
Replane is a BMW term for adjustment. I'm not sure exactly what they do. But it worked.
