how do you mount your gopro?
I've seen some videos with people having gopro cameras mounted in the car. How are you guys mounting them? I don't have a harness bar or anything like that to clamp to, so I'm curious if maybe I could use a suction cup mount upside down to the sunroof?

I just mount mine on the inside of the windscreen with the suction cup.
I'm guessing if you want it further back in the car you could mount it on the rear window facing forward. I have thought about mounting it off the sunroof however with the mounts i have it doesn't drop down far enough to have a decent view out of the front window. |

I just borrowed an older go-pro and I'm hoping to get some good video of autox this weekend.

For Auto-x, I bought the big suction cup kit, and secure the camera to the inside of the front windshield on the passenger side beside the mirror, it gives a good view of cones on both sides of the car. This works good for only a single camera, it also reduces the wind noise you have from an outside mount.

I remove the rear overhead light and hang the camera upside down from a ~5" extension tube. This is the ideal view of driver and straight out the windshield. I attached an adhesive mount up there so I can clip in and out easily. I just put the light box thing back afterwards.

Used to use the suction cup on the windshield, but got an AMT Engineering headrest mount. Some of the clubs I run with insist on mechanical mount and no suction cups. Can see my driver inputs and outside of the car.

I made a head restraint mount with a pvc pipe and a T connector. The gopro is mounted using one of the adhesive mounts on the T section. The pvc is clamped onto the head restraint bars with two u bolts. I have an external mic routed through the trunk and taped onto the license plate.
I modified my suction cup to hold my external mic so I no longer have to tape shit down and hope it holds.....i hope the suction cup mount doesn't fall off...i'm gonna have to ask the dude who fell off the cliff how his stayed on after flying off a cliff LOL |

I know you are looking for an inside the car mount. But... a lot of people use this Craven towhook mount for a secure bumper shot.
