Nürburgring Fun - Touristenfahrten 10/26

I went to the ring today with some friends. I have a couple of pictures of 2 other 1-series that I will post later. More photos can be found on my flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeccrutchfield/

It almost turned into a crapload (in my pants) at turn 110 when I started sliding towards the wall, and then again right after where those pictures were taken on my first lap when the back end started to come around

I push harder than anyone I know on the track though. I am turning in consistent laps < 10 minutes Bridge to Gantry.

TECHNICALLY, it is a 1-way unrestricted toll-road with complete German laws on Touristenfahrten days, so TECHNICALLY I don't see how it could...Of course, dealers will get you any way they can.

I was there with a black one! I didn't see you obviously. I did see a euro spec sedona red though. We did have a blast! Too bad we didn't meet up.

I had two laps left over from last weekend, so I went and ran those, then went back to my photo spot to takeover for my friend so he could do his laps.

I have pics of the Sedona Red & a blue 1 hatchback.

WAIT...you own a white one but were there with a black one?

Yeah, saw the red one leaving just as I got there. We didn't run a lap until around 3pm so it was a late event for us. Weather couldn't have been better. I think the track is only open on weekends now until march or april.

I quite like the spectator position for your 3rd shot. That's at Pflanzgarten, right? I definitely got the car sideways a bit there. The little airborne segment towards the left gets me every time ;-)

Can't wait to make it back and work on my b2g time! Best I've done thus far was 9:51.

Next spring, I'm definitely making another pilgrimage!

All of them are at the bottom of Pflanzgarten, we just followed cars around that corner at the bottom that starts the uphill. It was the uphill righthander after the dip that I got a little sideways (but not until the top of the hill)

9:47 is my best time (which was also the first trip in the 1), yesterday I only managed 9:50 on WINTER tires, which only added to the problems. They have been sliding all over the track both times I went after swapping.

I get sideways after the drop off cause I always end up breaking right about the time the suspension is at full compression.

9:50 on Winter tires! Impressive! There should be a stickied thread here for 1er b2g times :-)

9:32 BTG w/ Winter tires, 2 oil spots on the track, and some slower traffic in a couple of spots. Oh, AND I HAVE VIDEO...give me a few days to get it ripped and posted though. Can't put the mini-DVD in my laptop because it is a slot-load drive.

There have been mixed reports of people going out with the Red temp tags, but for the most part, I think they allow it. Just remember the break-in period....

Oh, and this is from November 8th (purchasing the full res version)

My boss is riding in the passenger seat.

Actually it is the dip on the Pflanzgarten at the bottom of the hill right before the turn.

holy $hit I'm jealous... I have no clue how old this is... it just happend to come out in a quick search, but damn!

I had to go to Europe for 2 weeks last year for a company meeting and intentionally went 3 days early and stopped in Koblenz and rented a Ferrari 360 for a day (about 750 euro- not bad! ) with the SOLE PURPOSE OF GOING TO THE RING!!!

So my wife and I hop in... drive up through the mountains (which that in itself was almost worth it!)... got to the track and found out.....

...that it was closed.

Apparently it snowed the day before. I would kill for not only another opportunity, but a chance to take my 135 out there!

proof
