330i Exhaust Tone comparision
Is there a tone difference in the 330i/sport pkg/manual trans versus a 330i/ non sport/auto trans? When I drive a 330i/sport/manual trans the car had a very plesant growl but the non-sport pkg/auto version seemed different. Is this just my perception or is there a difference in exhaust systems? Certainly, driving a manual transmission helps connect you to the car and heightens the experience. The tone seemed different, especially at idle.
I apologize if this was posted in the past, but I could not locate using a few search key words. Thanks for your input. John |

BMW Autos used to get a extra fan connected to the engine making them sound a bit different from manuals, the E90 just seems to have a slightly different fan for the auto's which may be the reason for the different sound

Plus, the sport packaged car somehow intuitively knows it has the ZSP and thus gives that deeper, more aggressive growl (well, at least that's what I heard).
