Stock 2012 6spd 135i 1/4 mile
Well other than ditching the junk RFTs I am running 225/255 Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons anyways......
So the 1st pass was a total waste. I forgot to air out my rear tires, so with the 40 psi in then I managed a ricerific 14.78 @ 96.3 which I was beat my 2 hombre's in their Eclipse. But after that I dropped the psi to ~27 and left it there then 6 runs were from 13.7 - 13.8 with a 13.9 thrown in there and MPH was from 101-103. My fastest time was a 13.56 @ 102.6 but my fastest trap was 103.8 on a 13.83 pass, last pass of the night and hot lapped. It's amazing how I launched the 135i nor how I'd been launching it on the street didn't work well at the strip, it surely worked well in my GTO. Bring the revs to 1500-1800 and side step. It takes off on the street, as did my GTO but that track prep was killing it as my 60's were from 2.1-2.3 so wheel hop sucks worse in this car at the strip. I wanted to try something else but I just kept doing what I was use to doing. All in all I got 8 runs and this car doesn't seem to suffer from any heat soak as I made 2 passes back to back, 5 minutes apart and making identical runs of 13.83 (not 12.83) with 1 at 102 and the other at 103.8. What kind of DA when you were there?
Managed a 13.45@104.5MPH on a 4000 DA night on stock wheels and tires and engine with one of our 135i a few years ago. |

I checked a website online when I was there and it said the DA was in the 1100' range but that site doesn't have an archive and can't find anything online for that day. When I calculated it on drag times it came out being over 500'. So with that the correct time was 13.4 @ 103 for the fastest time I managed.
I heard a few years back that Pacific Raceways is known to be a slow track but I'm not sure if that is true or not. There were not many cars out there nor any that I knew what times they should be running to compare. But this is my local track so I know what it can run here and have something to judge it off of once I start modding. The launches were killing me but I'm sure if I could have figured it out and got my 60' down to the 2.0 or 1.9 range then I could have ran a faster time, probably at least a 13.3. Considering my 13.5 was on a 2.14 60'. |
