How long to operating temp?
Hey fellas, just wanting to know on average how long it takes for your 1-series to get up to 120C on the temp gauge? I just returned from a 1 hour drive, and it only got up to 100C. I would've expected it to be there by about 10~15minutes. Fault gauge perhaps?

I drive fifteen minutes to work and the gauge only just starts to move as I pull into the carpark, so it's slow to warm up. As for 120 degrees, apart from on the track, I don't recall it getting that high.

Takes my car abou 15-30 minutes to warm up to about 100, and usually stays there. Considering majority of the time I drive is to and from work, I rarely actually have a chance to go WoT :P

I dont think I'd call 120 'operating' temp. That would be the maximum ive seen on the street in heavy traffic.
It does take me a good 10-15 to get to 70 in the mornings. I'd like to see 100 more often than I do to eliminate condensation in the oil, which is another reason i am not keep to delete the stock oil thermostat. |

Same as above. 10-15mins to get to 100c.
Mine gets to about 115, maybe 120 after a good thrashing.

In summer on the hwy in Qld at 100 - 110 mine sits at ~119. Same in heavy traffic. 120 is in the middle of my gauge so I presume this is normal. Hopefully will run slightly cooler now I've got a bigger OC.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I just presumed that 120C was the normal operating temp since it's at the 6 o'clock position. I've been driving around waiting forever for it to get there so that I could give it some beans
