Rotors
Gents (and token ladies),
For those not running a BBK on their 135i, which rotors are you using? I am currently on BMWP rotors and am due to replace them. The options I have found and am considering are:
Those I am not considering are:

Centric blanks or OEM. Whatever I can get for cheap, but not cheap enough that I'm concerned about my life being in danger.
Slotted/cross-drilled rotors are a gimmick. Enjoy less stopping power, and ability to handle heat.

I'm using EBC rotors as the moment. It is dimpled and slotted, but no holes.
Where can I order the project Mu rotors? I'm not even sure they make CRD rotors for non Japanese cars. |

I got the EBC rotors from ECS a few years ago when the exchange rate was good. If I am buying again I will enquire with brakesdirect.com.au . There are also many auto parts dealers that theoretically could order them.
EDIT: The EBC rotors I have now are GD sport with dimples and slots. They have done 7 track days and 15,000km on the road with Ferodo DS2500 pads. I think they would be better with only slots and no dimples because the dimples cause uneven wear on pads and rotors. If buying EBC rotors again, I will choose the USR slotted version instead. I think drilled rotors are an even worse idea. Last edited by John_01; 04-07-2015 at 08:18 PM.. |

I put on stoptech slotted last fall and im a big fan. Autox season here is starting late, so I wont be able to talk about that yet.
But the brakes are very solid. |

This gets better, current costs are captured below:
[pairs] OEM blanks: $AUD250 to my door P.Mu CRD: $AUD600 to my door Protex: $AUD600 to my door (pass) EBC - similar to CRD ECS: ~$AUD1000 to my door BMWP: ~$AUD1000 to my door Does anyone have actual data to support the ECS/BMWP providing stopping distance and/or heat management benefits to justify the spend? fe1rx or dcaron9999 or justpete or @[HP Autosport] ? |
