Guessing game
Hello fellow lab rats.
How about a little guessing game? Guess how much for a chrome exhaust tip for a 1M? Just one tip. Here in Australia. No cheating ringing up your dealer. Don't bother looking up realoem or getbmwparts as the price isn't listed. You could use the price of the 135i tip as a clue I suppose but you would be wasting your time. In fact it is US$37.60 from getbmwparts. But ignore that. |

Automotive/BMW part premium + low demand + people like shiny objects + auto double the price for Australian market.
I am gonna guess $1350.

1 million is close, oh so close.
Bear in mind that even though it is indeed shiny and that it is a BMW item it is after all only a piece of chromed mild steel tubing with a rolled end and an internal flange to hold it onto the exhaust end. Nothing special - really, it isn't. Keep guessing. |

There it is then, lab rats, $407.00 for one, yes just one, exhaust tip. Even the parts guy yelped unconsciously when he saw the price on his screen. I felt momentarily giddy, incredulous and nauseous all at once when he turned to me stony faced and announced the price. My perception has taken an "Inception" like shift. Valueless trinkets like these are immediately ludicrous. Second hand Toyota Camrys suddenly make enormous sense. Oh God I need a bex and a lie down. Last edited by gazz; 10-07-2011 at 03:37 AM.. |

Perhaps you could measure the inside diameter of the rolled end of the 135i tip please kind Sir. I know it is tapered so I'll need the cross-wise measurement. In any case I won't be buying an Australian supplied tip so something else will have to work. Maybe just the bare ends as a protest? Last edited by gazz; 10-07-2011 at 04:58 AM.. |

Will try and measure up tomorrow Gaz. I am very interested in the outcome.
This would be one of my first mods to my 1M, installing the 135i black tips and cat/resonator delete midpipes. I think the chrome tips on VO look ghastly IMO. Last edited by Zuzu; 10-07-2011 at 05:20 AM.. |

That's about 3,000,000 Indonesian Rupee...where you could get the same part custom made for about $3.

If you are just going for a better note on your 1M let the pipes burn in first before modding. You will surprised how good the standard exhaust sounds. Last edited by gazz; 10-07-2011 at 05:31 AM.. |

i would also mod the chrome exhaust as it instantly goes black at the bottom at start up and looks shit, the carbon tips and carbon lip spoiler are starting to sound good together on bsm. |
