brakes
sooo after a little jaunt around Mt Nebo last night with some mates i realised just how shitty the stock brakes are...
started looking around at my options, and need some advice.. if i get the BMWP will i need to upgrade the reservoir to compensate for the bigger calipers? are there are aftermarket companies that anyone has used that would potentially be useful? what have you guys done? would a 135i M-sport set of brakes be better than what i currently have? (i'm thinking not)

For some reason the 128i kit doesnt come with the rear calipers though I am picking some up for $400 from europe. The 130i kit does come with the rear brembo calipers and you can find a complete set for about $1500-2000 I think the only alteration needed is to code $102 - re-inforced brake system - and $100 - Usable load increase - to your cars VO. From my understanding, the BMW perf. brakes are superior to the stock 135i brakes but obviously the 135i brakes are also much more superior to the 125/130 stock brakes |

Jumping to larger calipers is a major jump if you're having fade on the street.
Assuming you're currently only running stock setup I'd suggest, A) Better brake fluid B) Better pads C) Slotted rotors I'd really be surprised if after this you still need a larger brake setup. I loved the pedal feel in my 130i, much better than the 135i, but obviously standard setup is for street orientated driving, pumping more heat into them would make them fade but the 3 items mentioned above would solve most problems. |

I know a couple of 130 owners in Brisbane who may have new/unused BMW performance sets for sale for a good price. PM me if you're interested.

I'm almost at the stage of installing a set of 135i brakes to my 3er (hopefully try it by the end of this week!). I'll let you know how it goes for me.

Anyway my set up is totally guess work. 135i fronts should fit, and word has it that the stock rear calipers fit on stock rotors so I'm gonna try it. Just a gamble.. but would look sex if it works. |

OP, you might want to try upgrading just pads and calipers first to see if that solves it. There might not be a need to blow big dollars on BMWP stuff.

Also, just made a ragecomic to represent your thought process in this thread. I think it went well.
